Who Put S. Carter ON?

If you really put me on, put your self on then... lls

For those that don’t know the guy above Michael Rapino is responsible for Sean Carter’s $150 million dollar deal with Live Nation. The worlds largest touring and promotion company. Here are a few exerts from the WSJ article “Rock’s New Republic.” Check it out its a dope read. He is currently in negotiations with Kanye and several other major artist.
SOURCE: WSJ
“When Live Nation Chief Executive Michael Rapino strode into the restaurant, Jay-Z had a waiter squeeze in an extra chair on his left. He then gestured for the server to fill Rapino’s glass with Armand de Brignac “Ace of Spades” rosé—after having told another guest not to even look at the $500 metallic-pink bottle of Champagne.”
Rapino says the company is still talking to “select” artists it thinks could justify giant new deals. “Kanye? Absolutely,” Rapino says. He describes a recent visit West made to Live Nation’s Beverly Hills offices, where executives presented proposals for businesses they could enter together. “He said, ‘I thought I was just coming in here to get a big check. But you guys can actually help me grow my business!’ ”

Mr. Hanible's Interview

DopeYemi: What is your name for those who know not, & where do you reside?
A: name is Darren Hanible. Darren by definition means great. I currently reside in Laurel, MD not where I wanna be but all things happen for a reason!
DopeYemi: On average, how many hours out of your actual work time do you practice a week? (rap or anything that has to do with music that is)
A: I practice all the time. The only time I dont practice is when I sleep. At school im always writin thast covers the rap. Then I take band and piano which cover the music cuz I gotta do homework there too. And lastly Imma recording Tech specialist at Best Buy and thats the producing part.
DopeYemi: Are your working hours irregular? E.g. Night time and weekends?
A: Naw I'm always into something. I believe in consistency because if there isn't consistency then you always have to play catch up.
DopeYemi: Do you get paid enough to ensure an adequate lifestyle? or you are still independent?
A: If we talkin bout the music then HEEELLLLLLLLL NAAAWW...but I love it so it keeps me going...on the job side tho I make my bread.
DopeYemi: So your up coming project, what is it about & what should the people expect from it?
A: The project is entitled "Darkside Of The Moon" I named it after a Pink Floyd album. The music I heard on that joint was so different. Then I started to think about my musical difference and how people dnt really listen to cats like me. Thats when I was like daaamn moe I coming from the darkside of the moon. I mean its unknown matter fact what does anyone normal know about the darkside of the moon? Theres alot to expect including greatness.
DopeYemi: Did you need any formal qualifications to become a DMV rapper, if so, what?
A: I think to be taken seriously anywhere requires something but I wouldn't quite call them "qualifications" its more like a rights-of-passage thing. Its like you gotta make a name for yourself or niggas will carry you somethin serious. You gotta come correct you know and you gotta kno the right people. (SHOUT OUT PROLIFIC ENT)lol
DopeYemi: How many feature should we expect on the project or is it just a semi-solo project like the 808 & HeartBreaks?
A: This mixtape is definitely calling on some DMV heavy-hitters. We got The Waldorf Poster Boy Mouse, Chris Barz, Badio, Marky, and well idk from there but it may be a few more lls.
DopeYemi: What Are Your Goals for this project sir?
A: My goal is to make a splash. I weant people to know my name. Last year I had no buzz and now if you google me im on the whole first 2 pages and shit hahaha. I mean like it sounds funny but thats an accomplishment for a 17 yr old youngin ya dig? Its like damn fam Im getting somewhere so I wanna deliver good music and get my recognition.
DopeYemi: What Are Your Musical Weaknesses if you have any?
A: If anything is that I can't do it all at one time. I wish I could but I can't. Though I want to it is nor possible....yet next year holla at me and see what my answer is!! lol
DopeYemi: What would you do on a normal day of school Mr. Hanible?
A: First period I got fashion so I pay good attention second period is algebra I m good wit numbers so you could catch me knocked out in the 3rd row. Third period joe piano so Im up and at it gotta get better, and 4th period my teacher gives you like 3-4 weeks to turn in each assignment and they not even hard so I will let em pile up and write lyrics and do it all the week before.
DopeYemi: What Can You Do for the DMV is you get it the Music bizz?
A: Everything in my ability to put it on the map. I aint gonna go all Hollywood and I act like I dont kno my roots you will catch me back on the regular not just to shoot some video to make people think I rep when I dont the way you see me now you gon see me then!
DopeYemi: Any Last words for the People?
A: All I gotta sday is I love the DMV Imma forever represent like its no tomorrow believe that. I want yall to please cop that mixtape when it drops in January its a great way to bring in the new year. Matta fact ure resolution should be to listen to good music only and thats all.

808s & Heartbreak...

First off 808s & Heartbreak is in stores now and if you are a taste maker you should have this Album.
And after listening to this album for more than 200x (i really did), I actually think its a better craft of work than The Carter III.
Another reason is that all the Style & Fashion, Love, Lost, and Want of his past childhood relates to my life as of this day.
The Album also modifies the wearing of cloths "Tight Denim Pants" lol which is really becoming a huge thing now, which is making 'Ye a Icon for stepping out of the box as a Rapper to a Semi-Singer who's album is 4O%-5O% sampled.
In the whole Album my favorite line on fashion is "There is no YSL they could sell... to get my mind..." on Pinocchio Story, this is because as of right now when it come to fashion i fell like I've done it all and I was a originator at doing it.
O5-O6 L.H.S sch yr... been wearing straight leg denim... oh yea i also taught i was a thug... lls

Reminiscing on the Weekend...

Reminiscing on the Weekend...

OK, i had two programs/ show I'm was suppose to be at right, but for some long lost reason i made both shows late and i didnt get to see any musical performs.
Plus my boy Micheal better known as TK performed, heard he killed it.
Oh one funny shxt that happened... lmao/ lls
OK i saw some few joints i use to mess with right... lol
On of them really made my day, as i gave her a hug and you know we started conversing right.
The funny part lls
lls a/w this girls gone ask me "so when did you start wearing straight leg denims? i thought you were into baggy?"
So i laughed for about 10sec, looked her in the eye and said that's why we never was together for that long... lls
why did i say that idk, but that answer was funny as shxt, then right after that i said my moms always pick out my outfit so there's no way i wore baggy pants... lls

808s & Heartbreak.

Overall this album was a Creative Art in my opinion. Heartbreak, the lyrical content dwells on his various pains. On "Welcome To Heartbreak" he sings about his desires to have a family. "Bad News" tells the story of getting the news of his mother's untimely passing. "Amazing" featuring Young Jeezy informs a detractor that no matter how hard they try to discourage him, he will prevail. The rest of the album is focused on girl problems, which i tend to relate with... enough said. Singing about these topics over pulsating ballads gives the songs additional introspective layers that he would not have conveyed had he rapped them. I give him credit for having enough artistic licenses to step outside of the box to push himself to try a different thing as usual. But, you know there's a but. what didn't he rap at least on a song? i don't see this Album selling too much but then again it might based on the inspiration behind the record. There is only one song that ruins the vibe. It's the final track, "Pinocchio Story," a freestyle song recorded live in Singapore. In attempt to justify his penchant for complaining at award shows, fighting with the paparazzi and press, Kanye argues that he's just being honest like Pinocchio. Yes, Pinocchio, the fairytale about the wooden puppet-turned-real boy whose nose grew whenever he told a lie. Not only is this a weird, unlikely metaphor, the song is unedited. They should have left it off the album. But maybe it's included to illustrate the type of creative energy that motivated him to travel down this lane in the first place.

Dug in for this...

So yea, i havent writing a poem in a while but after watchin' the Ye's performance of "Heartless" on OS, i got inspired to aspire... dont ask how or why... lol

So distance was a problem,
And still is!
After you got a wipe,
Yea after he got a wipe!
But why would that be,
He doesnt even know,
Maybe he doesnt feel the same way no more,
Maybe he thinks his the shxt!
Maybe its from her side,
But she's never at fault,
Maybe his on drugs,
Maybe maybe maybe,
Maybe one of this days we'll find out,
Maybe one of this days we'll find out,
Or his he really scared!
He cant be; with the way he interacts with other females,
Or is her present too strong for him,
It might just be GOD's...
You never know,
So let them be.

Change We Can Believe In

Presidental Candidate

Wednesday, January 30, 2008

Wale

“…Being humble is something I kinda want to take to another level. It’s my device that keeps me grounded. Believe it. It kind of sounds weird but I don’t want to accept my success…I never want to take it too serious. I don’t want to think of myself as Wale the rapper. Nah, I’m Olubowale, my mom’s son.”
– Wale.

Dorothy Hong: a 23-year old New Yorker, who just so happens to be a skilled photographer, captured a young Wale in an environmental photo that would change his life forever. In the March 2007 issue of The Fader magazine, Wale received his stamp of approval through a simple photo- that captured him talking on a phone, in a dim kitchen with an Egyptian Nefertiti covering his chest. A screened, “dope rope” chain, the white long sleeved undershirt and the African medallion, stood out as much as the idea, that he was something different.
Although he wore stylish clothes and talked on a fancy cell phone, the setting behind him, told a deeper story. The D.C. born emcee had been photographed in a place that was equivalent to almost every kitchen in the urban community. Through this piece of artwork, Wale became an average person and the relationship between him and the people led to almost 50,000 Myspace friends, European tour dates and the support of super producer Mark Ronson.
With light seeping through the window, to light up the room, a young yet determined Wale is positioned toward the light, almost suggesting that he is the future, in an industry in need of definition. With a nonchalant facial expression and Raisin Bran (cereal) sitting on stop of the refrigerator, Wale’s photo depicts “home.” A subliminal message of progress and achievement was captured on a sunny afternoon- in a single photo.
Before Fader, Wale was labeled “Unsigned Hype” in 2005, by The Source magazine. After Fader, Wale meets the cover of URB magazine as well as a “Top 8” to watch slot in Entertainment Weekly. He was also featured in the Washington Post, XXL magazine, MTV.com and several other major publications and websites. If you haven’t had a chance to focus in on the artist who was caught under the lens, maybe you heard “Nike Boots” or “I am African” in the global community. Just in case you haven’t, HipHopDX presents the well-deserved Wale, with the certification of being DXNEXT.
This is for all the Africans, Go-Go goers and Hip Hop heads across the globe. Hailing from: The nation's Capital also known as Washington, D.C.Current works: Closing a deal with a major label, working on new material for the album, while doing shows across the country. Check him out at this year’s Grammy's.Connects: The Clipse, Mark Ronson, Camp Lo, Jay-Z, Young Guru, Red Café, 7-30 Dips, Lily Allen, Rhymefest.Past collabs: Lil Wayne, Jae Millz, Mark Ronson, M.I.A. He admits that he’s not a fan lots of features and on a respect level, he would rather the people hear him and approach him versus him searching for features.
Life outside of rap: “Well really, man, I just try to clear my mind-just do stuff. I hang with my family and my friends. I gotta big shoe fetish and I collect sneakas or whatever- shop. I’m not one of those dudes who like, ‘Man, I’m on the block all day’. I really like to chill man- real regular. Go out with my peoples or whatever. Go to a club, go-go or whatever. Just chill you know?”
Life before rap: Before rap, Wale was in college as a football player and prior to being kicked off the team, he had the intent on graduating with a degree in Communications. “I really couldn’t see myself doing anything math related,” he says. He starts to express his feeling about college by saying, “College is a place to by time…until you figure out what you want to do.” He encourages following your dreams and obtaining education to learn the information and not as a game of “memory.” According to the emcee, he left school because he began to “Get a lot of money from shows” and school became more of a “distraction” than a way to gain knowledge of his career goals."
Career sum up: “Complicated, man. I can have a show that’s sold out with celebrities came through and you can be on HipHopDX and one would think that everybody would know who I am or I can go to dinner with the greatest rapper of all time and him telling me that my stuff is dope then go on the internet in the middle of the night and read ‘Nobody fucks with Wale in D.C.’ What are you talking about? I just had a show. People just paid 50 dollars to see me and it’s sold out. It’s complicated. I’m glad I’m getting the opportunity to tell my side of the story on HipHopDX.” He continues by talking about staying humble and struggling with the battle of the intake of the compliments and dealing with being a human being. At the end of the day he wants the people to know that he puts himself over nobody because the way in which he was raised.
Three words to describe the music: He picked creative, innovative and controversial. “Creative in that I try to create a branch off of the genre or create fusions between two genres. Innovative because that’s my mission statement and controversial because I can post a song on HipHopGame and than Brisco or Royce Da 5’9" -basically someone whose more buzz worthy than I am, can post one, but I’ll have more comments [laughing] whether it's personal slander or attempted slander, I’ll have more comments.” He doesn’t know why that is because he insists that he talks about nothing that’s too controversial.
Discover the music: Find him on http://www.walemusic.com/, he goes out a lot in his city and in New York City. You can also find him on www.myspace.com/wale202, where you can download the mixtapes for free. He’s also on various Hip Hop websites, including HipHopDX.com. You can find him by any “digital means” necessary. You can also find the album in various sneaker stores in L.A., as well as ATMOS in Harlem.
Wale’s perception of Hip Hop: “I think its kind of one-sided right now, but I’m not mad at a Soulja Boy or a Hurricane Chris. I can't be mad at them because I don’t think Soulja Boy or Chris would be mad at Joell Ortiz or Skyzoo or Lupe or myself if people were downloading ringtones of Immortal Technique. I think they’ll still be in their crowds or circles dancing and clapping.”
Message to the people: “Um, support what you like and don’t be too concerned with what other people say. If it was up to me, Lupe, Phonte and Pooh would be selling out bigger venues. They would be Top 10 on the Billboard charts right now. That’s what I wanna hear. I’m 23 years old. If I was 19, I probably would be juking and jiving…maybe we’ll be juking and jiving together. We were kind raised on content.”

L.O.V.E

I love HER with all my HEART
every VEIN, every VESSEL,
every ORGAN in my system
SHE would be my QUEEN
I could be HER KING. together
SHE would make me COOL and we would both RULE forever.
and I would never feel pain, and never be without pleasure ever..again
and if the rain stops, and everythings dry
SHE would cry just so i can drink the tears from HER eyes...
SHE taught me how to fly, even cushion my fall
if my engines ever stalled and i plumith from the sky
SHE would keep me high
'cause SHE's my Wing, like
a bird learning how to fly.
Love U, LOVE of my Life "Moms".
